Hello! Today's post is not a Top Ten Tuesday but it's still a list! This post is about the #Diversathon challenge and it starts January 22! It was created by Christina, Monica, Joce and Whitney (I love all of their booktube channels, you should watch them) and I'm excited for this! I tried to do the last one but the book I chose just wasn't doing it for me. So here is the (short) list of books I hope to complete during that week. Enjoy and let me know in the comments what you might read for this challenge.
1.) Brown Girl Dreaming by Jacqueline Woodson: Raised in South Carolina and New York, Woodson always felt halfway home in each place. In vivid poems, she shares what it was like to grow
up as an African American in the 1960s and 1970s, living with the remnants of Jim Crow and her growing awareness of the Civil Rights movement. Touching and powerful, each poem is both accessible and emotionally charged, each line a glimpse into a child’s soul as she searches for her place in the world. Woodson’s eloquent poetry also reflects the joy of finding her voice through writing stories, despite the fact that she struggled with reading as a child. 3.) The Reader by Traci Chee: Once there was, and one day there will be. This is the beginning of every story. Sefia lives her life on the run. After her father is viciously murdered, she flees to the forest
with her aunt Nin, the only person left she can trust. They survive in the wilderness together, hunting and stealing what they need, forever looking over their shoulders for new threats.
