Reading Goals
1.) 11 books: For the past few years, I have not read more than 46 books a year and that's not bad but I really want to read more. I think 50 is pretty achievable so to start off the year, I want to read eleven books this quarter and hopefully that will keep me on track.
2.) 8 Diverse Characters: From those 11 books, I want at least eight of those books to have a main character that's not white, straight and/or cis-gendered. I'm really tired of reading books from this point of view after years of only reading that narrative. I'm not completely going to cut off books that feature characters like that but there will be fewer of those on my TBR pile. Most of the books that I'm going to read that I will probably read are on my Diversity Bingo list from earlier.
3.) At Least 9 Beat the Backlog Books: There will be another post on this but to be brief, this challenge is about catching up on the books that you have been meaning to read for the longest. I definitely need to do this because my TBR has 400 books. That's after cleaning off problematic books and books that I don't remember adding.
4.) 2 New Releases: There's so many books that I have to read this year because some of my favorite authors are releasing books that I just have to read. However, I do need to catch on reading so if you read any of my other posts, you already know the top two books I will be picking up this quarter.
Writing Goals
1.) Write: So this seems like the obvious but seriously, last year I didn't write any words of my work in progress until December. I'm ashamed to say that but it's so true. To be more specific, I want to write 20,000 more words this quarter in this book.
2.) Plan the Next book I Want to Write: Considering the fact that I don't have my first book done, this is kind of weird to say that I want to do this quarter. However, I have like ten years worth of book ideas that I want to write and there's something in my brain that keeps telling me to plan at least one of them out. I don't know which one it will be, yet, because a couple of the ideas keep screaming at me but we'll see.
Life Goals
1.) Apply to 20 Scholarships: I'm going to college this fall! Which one? I don't even know myself but I am going to need some money because I'm broke.
2.) Buy a New Phone: My phone now is seriously tweaking right now. It shuts on and off when it gets to 50% and then it never gives me my messages on time. I don't know what type of phone I want, yet, but it will probably be an iPhone despite the fact that my friend thinks Apple products are trying to take over the world. Unfortunately, to achieve this goal I'm going to need to work more and actually save my money. I don't like to do either of those things.
3.) Hang Out With My Sisters: I'm kind of embarrassed to say that I don't hang out with my sisters but it's true. It's not even that I don't like them, it's just that we don't have the same interests. They act more like those party girls on TV and I'm a laid back kind of girl. But when I leave, I'm going to miss them so I want to do at least one thing this quarter with the both of them.
4,) School: I do really well in school but I have senioritis. I just don't care anymore about High School and I just want to be done. So this quarter, I'm determined not to let my grades slip just because I don't care about high school anymore.
5.) Update my Wardrobe: I'm going to college and I need to start shopping for clothes that I can wear around campus. I'm not saying that I'm going to dress up all the time on campus but there are few essentials that I need before I leave for college.
What are your Winter Quarterly Goals? I'd love to know in the comments below. Thanks for reading and I hope you all have a great year.
